Erin Dickins in Concert at the Avalon Theatre
October 21st 8:00 PM
with very special guests Stef Scaggiari and Kentavius Jones
Manhattan Transfer founding member Erin Dickins presents an evening of jazz and sultry tunes to celebrate the release of her long-awaited CD. Erin will be joined by two very special guests – pianist Stef Scaggiari, and singer-songwriter Kentavius Jones.
“A superb technician with a delicious vocal delivery......Erin radiates pure joy with every note.....truly the consummate performer and a delight to hear.”
-- Richard Flanzer, Safe Concerts
Bette Midler meets Diana Krall when Erin performs her mix of elegant jazz, sultry ballads and original material smattered with touches offbeat humor – beautifully accompanied by the talented Stef Scaggiari on piano and an all-star lineup of jazz musicians.
A founding member of the original jazz vocal group Manhattan Transfer, Erin has actually worked with Midler, and has extensive experience in the recording studio and on stage as a recording artist, singer, producer and performer. Erin recently completed work
in New York on her new CD, Nice Girls, produced by Jesse Frederick and arranged by Rob Mounsey.
Erin has performed and recorded with many well known artists, including James Taylor, Linda Ronstadt, Bette Midler, The Talking Heads, Yoko Ono, Melissa Manchester, Jim Croce, Andy Pratt, James Brown, Randy Neuman, Laura Brannigan, Janis Ian, Roberta Flack, Peabo Bryson, Barry Manilow, Patti Austin, Ashford & Simpson, Leonard Cohen, Dr. John, Paul Butterfield, Levon Helm and, of course, The Manhattan Transfer.
Tim Hauser, a co-founder of that famous vocal group, said, “I have known Erin since 1969 ... I have always thought she was a great singer. I thought so then, and I think that now.” Asked why, he said, “because she sings from her heart, and those kinds of singers are my favorites.”
Tickets for this not-to-be-missed evening will be available through the Avalon Theatre. Proceeds will benefit TomCat Solutions, a new non-profit group based in Talbot County which helps people get ‘outdoor’ cats spayed and neutered.

Put it this way: Jazz is a good barometer of freedom… In its beginnings, the United States of America spawned certain ideals of freedom and independence through which, eventually, jazz was evolved, and the music is so free that many people say it is the only unhampered, unhindered expression of complete freedom yet produced in this country.~~~Duke Ellington

I think the idea is now for blacks to write about the history of our music. It's time for that, because whites have been doing it all the time.
It's time for us to do it ourselves and tell it like it is~~
Hahahaha...Yeah, Diz you hit the nail on the head. Tell it like it is...
