- I try to serve the music and the situation. If I play the music, the drums play themselves.
I'm involved in several original projects (some are on the player), and I freelance. The bottom lines for me are great music and great folks. We all need to get paid, but if it's all about money, one would do better in going to law school, then getting an MBA, no? Or we'd all be auditioning for Madonna. Nothing against her, she's sold a lot more tickets and T shirts than I have, but balance in all things.....
Locally I've worked with Ray Gaskins, John Dahlman, L'Tanya Mari, John Dahlman, Damon Foreman, O'Donel Levy, Mark Mosley, Arch Thompson, Bill Heid, Wayne Wilentz, Whit Williams, Ruby Glover, David Lowe, Cheryl Jones, Charles Bubeck, Kendra Holt, Ben Sands, Earl Wilson, Greg Thompkins, Zach Graddy, Thad Wilson, DonVonte McCoy, DeAndrey Howard, Vernon Wolst, Bruce Henderson, Antonio Parker, Dontae Winslow, Steve Carrington, Joel Holmes, Ernie Barnes, Jerry Gordon, Bob Barrett, Gary Richardson, Christopher Brooks, Ralph Peterson, Eliot Levine, Peter Edelman, Jack Gussio, and Mario Hunter, James Bazen's Big Band, the Potomac Jazz Orchestra, Thad Wilson's Jazz Orchestra, the Crabtowne Big Band, Eubie Blake Jazz Orchestra, Mood Swings, and Blue Moon. On the outer side, I've worked with Mud Pie, Tyler Higgins, Circus of Saints, and Tom Reyes. I've worked with artists in the West African, Brazilian and Afro Cuban traditions as well, e.g., Armand Ntep, Mfa Kera and Afro Soul, FrankoJazz, Askan Wii, Rose Moraes, Samuel Munguia, Dani Corteza, Patrick Alban, and Gigi McLaughlin.
I've recorded with Dee Stone, Kendra Holt, Postmodern Blues, Collage, Jadeskyy, PDFOP, Dana Jessen, Circus of Saints, Tom Reyes, Black Heritage, Collage, and many others.

If you combined all Top 50 releases in terms of hard copy sales. Would it amount to 250,000 units sold, 300,000 sold? And what's wrong with Jazz radio or what's left of it? Billboard Jazz Charts for April 6, 2013 has Madeleine Peyroux "The Blue Room" @#1. Yet on the Jazz Week Charts for April 8, 2013 Peyroux is not even in the Top 50.
