International Songbird  "A True Entertainer & Interpretive Singer"

Myrna Clayton's Tribute to Minnie Riperton is Captivating!

Influenced by classic American artists such as Minnie Riperton, Nancy Wilson, Rachelle Ferrell, and Dionne Warwick, Myrna - like with many great singers - has roots in the church.  Her first singing experience was at the age of five in her father’s church. She grew up in a family that stressed education. Her father, a minister and educator, and her mother, a librarian/archivist, instilled in her a drive for excellence.  A true renaissance woman, Myrna graduated from Atlanta’s North Side High School of Performing Arts, earned a BS at Alabama A&M University, and an MBA from Atlanta University to embark on a successful corporate Marketing career.  However, Myrna’s true passion was to sing in an authentic way – expressing love - so she stepped out and up to now be a full-time professional singer!  Her passion and professionalism as a Performing Artist were recognized through juried selection by the Georgia Council of the Arts.   Myrna The Songbird is now available for booking through the distinguished GaArt Artist Roster!

Myrna is engaging!  She is captivating!  "Her passion and professionalism as a Performing Artist were recognized through juried selection by the Georgia Council of the Arts and now . "The Songbird" is featured on the distinguished GaArt Artist Roster!"

Just back in the USA from amazing performance tours in Germany, Russia, and Belarus.

The Songbird loves to get audiences on their feet and feeling the music.  Myrna is a singer/ songwriter, bandleader, studio-session singer, and featured vocalist for Westside Winds 24-piece Big Band Jazz Orchestra. Myrna is quite versatile in her skill sets and literally excites the crowd!  With every part of her body engaged in the performance, there is never a dull moment watching her grace the stage.

A quintessential entertainer!

Whether performing in  larger theater/festival crowds or intimate settings, Myrna's fresh energy explodes into the audience for a rousing good time!

At the core, Myrna is a 21st Century Jazz singer!  The Songbird does it all: Pop, Soul, Gospel, R&B, Blues/Country and all forms of Jazz: Smooth Jazz, Classical Jazz Standards, Swing, Bebop, Fusion, or Contemporary Jazz.   Myrna is a versatile Singer of American Culture!  Few performers today match The Songbird in her showmanship.  Each word is interpreted in a way that delivers clarity of the message with profound insight and resounds with the soul. Fueled by a spiritual calling, Myrna’s true passion is to sing and use her gifts to INSPIRE the world!

Internationally, Myrna has toured in Russia, Belarus, France, and Germany.  She has performed and recorded in African venues and graced intimate settings in Great Britain.  Myrna is now preparing for a Eurasian tour experience.

Nothing compares to a LIVE performance of The Songbird! Her band, "The Myrna Clayton Experience" has a true fervor to mesmerize audiences with their stellar shows! Her performance line-up is vast – performing at theaters, festivals, religious and non-religious conferences, homeless shelters, senior centers and prisons.  Myrna has opened for numerous top artists including Kirk Whalum, Ruben Studdard, Alex Bugnon, Lalah Hathaway, and The Manhattans. Ready for her worldwide tour, Myrna Clayton “The Songbird” is poised to make every music event a memorably energized experience!

"She's so versatile, she sings Jazz, Pop, Gospel, R&B, and Soul!""

First Wooden Clock by: BENJAMIN BANNEKER

Using as a model a pocket watch he had borrowed from a merchant or traveler, Banneker carved wooden replicas of each piece and used the parts to make a clock that struck hourly. He completed the clock in 1753, at the age of 21. Due to its precision (it struck every hour, on the hour, and continued to do so nearly forty years) the clock brought fame to young Banneker. Thus he began a watch and clock repair business. The clock continued to work until his death. Read more....

Put it this way: Jazz is a good barometer of freedom… In its beginnings, the United States of America spawned certain ideals of freedom and independence through which, eventually, jazz was evolved, and the music is so free that many people say it is the only unhampered, unhindered expression of complete freedom yet produced in this country.~~~Duke Ellington
