DESCRIPTION:The Mark Lomax Quartet will be live at The Redmoor April 1
 6th at 730pm!\n\nA Master jazz drummer, searching composer, and sought
  after lecturer, Mark Lomax creates\nmusic that uplifts and 'edutains.
 ' As a drummer Mark has led his own groups and has been featured as a 
 member of the Marlon Jordan Quintet, the Delfeayo Marsalis Sextet, The
  Ellis Marsalis Quintet, and the Azar Lawrence Quintet among others. A
 dditionally, he has played with Billy Harper, and Bennie Maupin among 
 others.\n\nMark has penned over 200 compositions for many genres inclu
 ding jazz, gospel, and classical. His orchestral arrangements of gospe
 l songs have been played by the Nashville Symphony, the National Symph
 ony, and the Akron Symphony to name a few.\nHis jazz pieces, which run
  the gamut from 'head' arrangements to extended compositions, have bee
 n performed, and recorded by his premier performing ensembles: The Mar
 k Lomax Quartet, The Mark Lomax Trio, The Lomax-Bayard Trio, and his 3
 0 piece chamber group The Afro-chamber Ensemble. Lomax has produced ei
 ght recordings as a leader/producer/arranger.\n\nIn addition to perfor
 ming and composing, Mark has taught college preparatory theory classes
  in the Columbus Public School system. He has developed general music 
 and music history curricula for the Martin Luther King Jr. Summer Camp
  program and the Directions for Youth and Families after school progra
 m that targets 'at risk' youth and teens. Lomax is also a highly sough
 t after lecture in the musicological field of cultural ethno-musicolog
 y specializing in the socio-political, and spiritual aspect of African
 -American art musics.\n\nPerforming with Lomax on this date will be Ed
 win \"Eddie\" Bayard, the Columbus Tornado on Tenor; Chicago's Dudley 
 Owens on Tenor and Soprano Saxophone, and Brandon Meeks on Bass.\n\nCo
