Janice Price: Actress, Singer, Former Professional Dancer, Choreographer, Entrepreneur, Director, Fine Arts Instructor, Playwright, Business Owner and presently MBA Student.
She also has earned an honorary Doctorate Degree from the “School of Hard Knocks”. Janice was born and brought up in the quiet and humble town of Walkertown, N.C.
Janice has always aspired and driven to become a star. Janice has been truly blessed on her journey by working, instructed and opened for many show business greats including: The late great bassist extraordinaire Keter Betts, who toured with Ella Fitzgerald for 21 years, Joseph A. Walker, first African American playwright to receive a Tony Award for the “The River Nigia”, the late but never forgotten mentor T.G.Cooper, professor of Howard University College of Fine Arts and cousin of Actor Sydney Poitier, and the late great Shakespearean actor who wowed the world as “Blackula” William Marshall. Janice has opened for musical artists such as Ray Charles, Grover Washington Jr., Natalie Cole, Will Downing, Gerald Albright and Oletta Adams. She has received numerous awards and accolades for her work with the community youth. In 1997 she founded the Artistic Studio School for the Performing Arts, in 1998 the Artistic Studio Summer Fine Arts Camp, 1997 established the Artistic Studio Theatre and the Artistic Studio Daytime Players (theatre for children). From 2002-2004 she was the host of the Morning Jazz Drive 90.5 WSNC Radio. In 2002 she was named Winston-Salem Business Woman of the Year in addition to being the recipient of many outstanding honors in the community.
She has written, performed and produced the Bio Musical of the life of Josephine Baker entitled “Josephine,” toured in “Lady Day at Emerson’s Bar and Grille” when she portrayed jazz vocalist Billie Holiday. Janice has performed in nightclubs, concerts, and festivals all over the United States and Canada. Last year she journeyed to South Africa in a gospel tour that was the highlight of her musical career.
Janice will receive her Masters Degree in Business Administration in December of this year from Virginia College in Birmingham Alabama. Her objective is to apply her business studies to a fine arts college/university curriculum.
Janice Price is forever and always being “Priceless”. Her motto is “If it is meant to be…It is up to me.”
