I am writing and working on learning piano for study only.
Who influenced you to listen to jazz
My Dad used to listen to Jazz. His neighborhood friends were Cecil Payne, Tommy Potter, Max Roach ,Randy Weston , GIlly Coggins, and others.My grandfather played trombone and later bass on the vaudeville circuit in NY and Chicago with Marion Hardy later the Cab Calloway band and my Grandmothers brother was the bassist for the Cotton Club. I grew up hearing Jazz , Blues from my Mom and R&B, worldbeat from my cousins and babysitter Mary.

Biography
Kim Clarke is an Acoustic and Electric bassist, composer, website developer bandleader and single mother. She was a member of Harris' Jazz Cultural Theatre's house band for the famed Art Blakey Bebop Breakfast Jam in the mid 1980’s.She is best known, internationally, for her work with Joseph Bowie’s Defunkt a career which spans 27 years over 3 continents and 20 CDs. Kim has also toured with Joe Henderson, The National Black Theater, Yusef Lateef ,Oliver Lake, Bigfood, Teri Thornton, Kit McClure, George Gruntz, Rachel Z, James Blood Ulmer, Christy Doran, Ursula Dudziak and her own group MAGNETS! She co-produced “MAGNETS! Live at the Earshot Jazz Festival CD” and is founding co- producer of LADY GOT CHOPS Women's Month Jazz Festival which celebrated its 17th year in March 2019. Kim is a recipient of the Elmcor Alumni Associations prestigious Satchmo Award May 2008
