I was Born Deborah Valley Mitchell I grew up in the City of
Roses, Pasadena,CA. My Mom was a professional dancer, my father a non-professional singer. As a teenager, I left Pasadena City College to attend school in Seattle WA. . While working for the owner of a Seattle Radio Station KZAM-FM (first 24 hr. Jazz station in the area) I became the FIRST Woman DJ in the Pacific NW.(hence the name "Delightful Debbie")

I moved back to Pasadena in the early 60's.
Through the years God has continued to lead me to fantastic jobs that surrounded me with the music I love so much. I've worked at United Artist Records as Secretary to 3 producers. in 1970 when Motown moved to Hollywood, I became Head of Communications for the Record Co...and have continued wonderful relationships with so many old Motown artists (including my pastor Frank Wilson, my son in law, Clay Drayton & dear friends like Terry McFaddin, Claudette & Smokey Robinson and many more).

After leaving Motown I moved to Chicago for a year, and while there I did commercials & voice overs for a communications company. I also worked for Tuesday Publications (a Black News Pub.) I returned to CA. just in time to fill an opening at Playboy,Int....(NO,I was NOT a bunny, I was a hare)

In 1976 My life began to move in a different direction when my dear friend JB at Motown invited me to a Bible Study at Frank Wilson's house...I went, accepted Christ as my personal savior and my life hasn't been the same since that day over 30 years ago. At the Bible study I reconnected with Jayne Kennedy and she asked me come work as her private secretary and I accpted gladly. In this life, if you HAVE to work, you should be so blessed as to have worked the kinds of jobs I have...It's called FAVOR.

I now work in Washington, DC where I have a position with USCIRF. Although our commission comes under the Fed.Gov. We report to The President. Congress & Senate, but we are independent from the Executive Branch. My future is in God's hands. I plan to retire one day (don't know which one) I truly miss having time with my 6 kids, (4 biological, 2 blended) 15 grandkids, 19 great grandkids, and my one and only brother... BUT right now I am having too much fun traveling the world, listening to the jazz I love and "IT'S TOO LEGIT TO QUIT" If you don't know JESUS, go and find Him now...your life will never be the same...and you can be like me "Living your life like it's GODLEN"
Delight yourself in the LORD and He will grant you the desires of your heart. Psa. 37:4
