Thanks very much for friendship... I like this opportunity to share our worlds...
The Life of a man is made up of a series of dreams which write our history, as well as our children, who then start to write their own. I decided to continue writing mine as soon as I began to dream in early childhood. One doesn't need to stop the journey along the way.
It is necessary to believe that the stars which light our way will never go out, and to continue to follow our dreams which inspire us in the most beautiful moments of our lives. If not, why is my star helping me to write so many fine melodies? I composed a suite for my dream, called " Melody for an Oscar", and I am convinced that one day someone will help me to reach for that Oscar in Hollywood, which I have always imagined in my dreams. No matter what, my dreams have enhanced my musical creativity, and for that I am thankful.
Gallery NK will be showing the work of Greta Chapin-McGill from February 22nd till March 20th. With an opening reception on February 28 and an artist talk on March 20.
Gallery NK presents recent works by Washington artist Greta Chapin-McGill in celebration of the Black History Month. Chapin- McGill studied painting and art history at Howard University and The Corcoran School of Fine Art. Her art encompasses all aspects of life, but her focus is on the connection of the indigenous people of the world, people moved, shifted and exiled from their native lands. Chapin-Mcgill identifies her style as Diasporic Expression, a journey through the history and spiritual connection of this movement of people. She uses bold colors out of the tube to illustrate feelings and events of the past. Among several other pieces, a painting called Adwar will be on display at the opening reception on Saturday February 28th 2015.
This painting is a homage to the Battle of Adwa which took place March 1, 1896 between the Kingdom of Italy and the Ethiopian Empire. This defeat of a colonial power and the ensuing recognition of African sovereignty became rallying points for later African nationalists. Ethiopia became one of the few African countries not colonized. The painting captures the color and passion of the the battle… a battle for freedom and purity of Ethiopia.
