“The Battle of the Saxes” – This production by Danny Luciano began in the mid-1970’s at Tom Battles Marina Restaurant, Atlantic City, NJ which now is the same area location for Harrah’s Marina Casino Hotel.

Having much success with this first concert show afforded the opportunity for more bookings throughout the Tri-Sate area, featuring many leading musicians from the nearby area, that included the saxes Joe Fortunato, Ray Fern, Stan Ross, Nick Manera, Larry McKenna, Bobby Borda, Dick Noble, Rudy Jones plus a swingin’ rhythm section.

The continuing success with this version of the “Battle of the Saxes” lasted through the years until the final performance in September 30, 1991 to a sell-out crowd celebrating a “Man of the Year - Testimonial Dinner” for Tony Torcasio at the famous Palumbo’s Restaurant Nightclub in South Philadelphia.
