Alphonso Johnson is my favorite bass player! I must find the tracks you performed with him. he was incredible backing Flora Purim - funky, jazzy and so sonorously beautiful. He sounds great with female vocalists. What's it gonna be!-love your tracks- kev

After Playing horns in funk bands and learning a little guitar and a lot of bass I discovered Alphonso soloing on a George Duke latin tune called 'Malibu'. It blew me away and he became my favorite even though Stanley Clarke, Jaco etc. were all putting the electric bass where it belonged- EVERYWHERE. As I got more into jazz I learned to love it and the vocalists point a direction that instrumentalists have always followed. Thanx for the response!- kevin
