However the painter I am, to live without music it is not to live ! So, I hope I can be even more creative in the contact of the members of this warm musical family.

Thanks so much for the acceptance. I use to blog and do things like that a lot, but fair warning I can be way too talkative if I start doing those things again. I've been trying to get back to the music. Speaking of which, I would love to colab on this event to make it something special. It is for a very very worthy cause.

    Keep up the good work.

Joe was a very talented individual. While at Howard I got the opportunity as a student, actress/dancer in many of the productions he directed. We stayed in touch while he was at Ruckers and suddenly I lost touch. "Weep not, Weep not for he is not dead...He is resting in the bosam of Jesus" (James Weldon Johnson)

Henry Edmonds was also one of my former instructors. She is truly missed. However we all know that Joe and Henry are in a better place.

I am so happy I have become a member of the Network. I have regained my modivation and enthusiasm to perform again by seeing and reaquainting with musicians in my past.

    Thanks again,
    Janice Price

Merry Christmas, I love D.C. I hope to make several appearances there if not perform there regularly next year. Hope you like this, as much as it is my cover of this classic Christmas song, it is also a tribute to the original writer and of course the one of a kind, never to be duplicated, incomparable, stylish and uniquely gifted if not anointed greatest Jazz singer of all times, Mr. Nat King Cole.

Thanks! for the invite! I miss the DC jazz scene! It's great to be connected with the jazz world especially being out here in the Pacific
Zone. Anyway! Merry Xmas to you all and a Happy New Year!
  • Roger M. Christian

May you have Warm and Merry Christmas and a Prosperous New Year.

    Hello,

As per your email Please be advise that the ' Washington DC Jazz Networks Badge ' is placed on my various Washington DC related websites. IE Washington DC Night Life ( NightLife ), RMC as to promote both your efforts and the artists who depend upon such worthy actions. It is sincerely wished that this helps to boost your positive feelings in the sociocultural innative to which this network was so envisioned.

As one who became a professional dance instructor in Washington DC at the old RKO Theatre - where Arthur Murray Dance Studios 1970 were once housed -- on New York Avenue and 14th ( ? ), and were I was introduced to Hip Hop by James Brown when he was booked at the Sonesta [ name possibly has changed ...but its the Hotel with first Swimming Pool with a movable Dome near Logan Circle ] by his dance innovation The Sex Machine and Single Recording & 2nd Openning, I am more than fully aware of the central importance of DC Jazz and its talented pool of artists.

Thus I sincerely hope that my efforts will help promote a more positive spirit as it is acknowledged by myself the importance of what you have already accomblished. Please be advise in the meantime, that times are hard and in both the Jazz and Blues genre this is the time to broadcast the single spirit that " sister " and " brother " we are not alone.

Please advise how I can further help this spirit.

With all the graces of our CREATOR I wish you all the happiness in the world.

    Roger M. Christian

Hi George, thanks for the kind note. I've been down for the count with large kidney stones in each kidney and an inguinal hernia that turned into a double hernia once the surgeon got in there. I am home slowly recovering...right now I cannot do anything...cannot lift anything over 5 lbs and cannot play my horns until the doc says so...I have my next appointment with him October 20th, so hopefully I'll be cleared to start playing again. Then I go in again November 10th to get the other kidney blasted...I keep hoping an praying to get better, but it's difficult to stay positive in this trying time. Thank you so much for wanting to feature me and my music on the Network. You made my day. I will switch the player the automatic as soon as I can get on there. Thank you so much, my friend!

Thanx for admitting me as a member of that wonderful website. Jazz is really the 20th century "classical" music. It's the most beautiful expression of American culture. Thanx too for Benny's picture. The last time I saw him, he was plenty drunk but plays like a god. The other fellows musicians who played in the band looked at him just like he was Santa Claus : here's some pictures of the concert : http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=C0tIiVrItJU

Thank you, George! I am so excited about the extended love and I, like Derryl have been  trying to figure out the short cut to share with some of my facebook family this wonderful venue. I think the best way maybe to send the message from my yahoo mail to my facebook timeline and then forward it to those whom I would like to invite. Do you agree?

  • Douye'

  • Lutalo Olutosin

George, thank you and thank GOD for blessing you with insight to create WDCJN!   The Network has been my connection to the greatest Jazz Legends alive today and Emerging Jazz Icons.  Many of whom I've met and collaborated with over the last 3 yrs.  Its a Wonderful thing when Creativity collides with History, Experience and Cosmic Energy and that's exactly the vortex you've created with the WDCJN.  Keep letting your light Shine Brother,......... Keep letting it SHINE!
