YOUR SOURCE OF JAZZ AND MORE IN WASHINGTON DC AND THE WORLD
Hi Friends,
its has been a lot of performing for me the last year, Barbados is really bussing with the arts, actually the Caribbean Islands are hot with the Calypso Jazz, the Actors, the artists the spoken word, the bussing Film industry, of which i am heading into full force, musically and with a little acting, LOL, they say that "the world is a big stage" so go out and play your part and Mama!! i am trying a thing.
Take a look at www.Whatsoninbarbados.com and plan your cultural events.
So!!!! Every Saturday i am leading a group of mix Jazz at Johnny Cool's Beach Bar On Dover Beach In Christ Church Barbados, with a line up of the young and very talented musicians that are coming out of the Barbados Community Collage, HOT HOT HOT these young LIONS are, we are having so much fun putting the charts together.
The last Saturday of every month i am also leading the group at a Jazz mix lime at Eco Country Escape located in Cove bay St. Lucy Barbados, It's an open air party with lots of good food and Cocktails, Jazzy, jazzy Jazzy.
I use the word mix Jazz because in these times and in the Caribbean, and i am sure in other parts of the world you can not go out and play all Miles and Dizzy and Jeff "Tain" Watts and Joshua Redman! we have to add a little Al Jarreau, Monty Alexander, some Bossa Nova because these days they are calling most forms of music Jazz, like Calypso Jazz, Smooth Jazz, funk Jazz, Celtic Jazz ,Pop Jazz,
and on and on.
I take a positive attitude and awareness of the change in the marketing of music and use the opportunity to arrange some of the classic pop standards that i grew up with in a freer form to make them the new jazz standards.
I like that idea, it goes back to the Broadway Classics becoming Jazz standards, this is a Jazzy world. We the artists need the people to come out.
Having a pop icon open a international Jazz concert is saying there is something here for every one, " SO COME ON DOWN" it's a mix bag and it is all fun.
Just Keep The Music Flowing.
I am on fecebook, Eco Country Escape is on facebook.

Malcolm has no difficulty in bridging the gap between 'I'm Glad There Is You'
and Bacharach's 'This Guys In Love With You' and his version of 'The Folks Who
Live On The Hill' and 'You Stepped Out Of A Dream' are a credit to his
versatility. The whole thing is a swinging affair and any slight intonation
anomalies from Malcolm are swept away by his exuberance and the fact that he
loves music - something that comes shining through. His deep, rich voice
(reminiscent of Billy Eckstine) is a killer and I'd love to see him performing with
this excellent group in an intimate supper club at 1-am. I suspect that it would be
an experience long and fondly remembered. 'Yo' Malcolm.

Malcolm has chosen twelve standards for this - his debut album - and that's not
such a bad thing because great songs like "I'm Glad There Is You" and "The Folks
Who Live On The Hill" that he includes here tend to get neglected
these days and that's sad. What's not sad is that this is a good album by the vocalist
and drummer on which he's accompanied by small group in which the standouts
are the brilliant piano of Daryl Kojak and the guitar of Jonathan Kreisberg.
Malcolm has a deep rich voice and "reads" the lyrics with excellent tonal quality
and feeling. Indeed his ability to convey intimacy into the grooves of this album
make it an excellent choice for late nighting with low lighting - need I say

A rich baritone voice and 12 marvelous love songs, make this a most delightful album. Malcolm
Griffith plus a quartet of accomplished musicians revisit some of the great songs of our times,
i.e.: Violets For Your Furs, I'm Glad There Is You, My Ship, just to mention a few. Griffith
treats the lyrics with respect, phrases nicely and that is the hallmark of a good singer Add the
backing of a solid ensemble and you have a fine addition for anyone's collection. Malcolm
Griffith chose his tunes and sidemen with care and that is the formula for success in any musical
endeavor. 4 stars

Armed with a great deal of musical experience, Malcolm now releases his CD, Come Love With
Me. The songs he performs are those that have served as inspiration to him over the years, and
romantics of all ages and musical tastes are bound to enjoy his delivery. Showcasing Malcolm's
excellent enunciation and a rich vocal tone, Come Love With Me is a fine, mellow recording for
warm summer nights spent with the one you love. Griffith is subtle but swinging on
uptempo numbers and his deep voice is commanding on the ballads. In addition, the backing
musicians on this CD are always there with just the right support, but never stealing the
spotlight away from Griffith.
