When booking, be sure to include travel insurance, which we always recommend. When purchasing Travel Guard insurance, choose Vacations & Cruises; use cruse base price for insurance quote; agent e-mail is ntaifa@verizon.net; destination is Caribbean; Cruiseline is Carnival; enter "none" in other categories. Be sure to purchase insurance at time of deposit to ensure optimum insurability.

Passports - Everyone requires a passport. New regulations require that the passport expiration date be more than 6 months after the return date; i.e., six months after May 25, 2013 must remain on your passport or you will be unable to board the cruise ship. Please take out your passport now and send me a return confirmation that your passport will not expire before November 30, 2013. If you do not have a passport or your passport date expires before November 30, 2013, please start the process.
Travel Insurance - Travel insurance is optional but highly recommended. Neither First Travel Alliance nor Legacy Empowerment is responsible for your decision to decline insurance. If you failed to purchase insurance at the time your $25 deposit was made and now decide you wish to do so, please contact me so we can discuss your options. If you choose to decline insurance, please send us an email confirming that you do not wish to purchase insurance for the cruise.
Airfare/Hotel- Airfare is not included in the price of the cruise. We are investigating possible group rates for airfare, departing from the Washington, DC area, early morning of May 19th. If there is a critical mass of cruise participants departing from other areas, such as Columbus, Ohio or Detroit, Michigan, or other areas, we will investigate possible group airfare from those localities as well. We are also investigating a possible hotel group rate for those who plan to arrive in Miami the day before. If any of these possibilities arise, we will let you know so you can plan accordingly.
Automatic Withdrawals - Please note that there will be three withdrawals from your account for this cruise. $25.00 (already made); $225 to be withdrawn on December 18, 2012; and the balance to be withdrawn on February 26, 2013. Please check the credit card that is on file with First Travel Alliance. If the expiration date occurs before either the next or the final payment dates, or if you wish for any other reason to use a different credit card, please contact me so you will be able to give the updated card information to First Travel Alliance. Sorry but the dates listed above are the only withdrawals that will be made by First Travel Alliance. If you need to budget funds outside of those dates, please put the money aside so the funds will be available at the time of withdrawal.
Double Occupancy - The available rooms to be booked from the website are double occupancy. Please see below if you are interested in a triple or quad room. If someone interested in booking the cruise does not yet know who their roommate will be, to insure a room will be available, they should put down a $50 deposit as opposed to $25 deposit, fill out their information for Guest One, and fill in another name and information (can use same address, email and phone) for Guest Two. They must contact me so I can notify First Travel Alliance that the information for the second guest will be updated as soon as that person is identified. That person needs to be identified before the date of the second deposit in December. We have received queries about the cost of a single room. We will investigate that and let you know in our next Informational Letter. Single rooms are usually very expensive (nearly the cost for two people).
Triple/Quad - If you wish to reserve a triple or a quad room (which includes a 3rd and/or 4th bunk), you are required to pay the entire $250 deposit for the extra bunks. Please note that these rooms are limited so the sooner you reserve, the better chance you have to be able to receive one. The price is subject to change until reserved. As of last week, the cost of the triple and quad was $376 for balcony room, and around $325 for the interior room.
Optional Port Excursions- In addition to the various optional port excursions that are offered by the cruise ship (in a subsequent email we will send information on port excursions), we are organizing a trip while in Ocho Rios that will include Dunn's River Falls,
Bob Marley tour with a Rastafarian guide. The cost for this optional tour will include roundtrip transport form cruise ship pier; admission to Dunn's River Falls, and admission to Bob Marley's home & resting place. Stay tuned.
Travel with Family & Friends- Again, on behalf of Legacy Empowerment, we are thrilled that you will be joining us for our 2013 Legacy Empowerment Cruise! Please feel free to let your family, friends, co-workers and neighbors know about this fabulous cruise get-away where, in addition to the ship's various amenities, we will also have Seminars at Sea on Relationship Enhancement, Health and Wellness, Social Justice, Network Marketing and Travel Training. We will also have a Jazz Singer, a Zumba Instructor, Author Book Signings, and more! Stay tuned for more information on these special additions and presenters. Please let your friends know that the $25 deposit is due immediately to reserve the room.

I strongly believe that technology is here to help the art form, not to overwhelm it, but tragically, with a very few, each day more and more scarce exceptions, the invention of the microphone, that is credited to the German Emile Berliner in 1876

Benny Sharoni, an Israeli-born, Boston-based tenor saxophonist, can energize even the largest, most lackluster venue with his big-toned sound and ebullient phrasing, packed with intense emotion and spirituality, a vibrant hybrid of the hip and the holy."
Put it this way: Jazz is a good barometer of freedom… In its beginnings, the United States of America spawned certain ideals of freedom and independence through which, eventually, jazz was evolved, and the music is so free that many people say it is the only unhampered, unhindered expression of complete freedom yet produced in this country.~~~Duke Ellington
