A self taught singer, Johnson's earliest influences included Eddie Jefferson, Charlie Parker, James Moody, Babs Gonzales, Dizzy Gillespie,Sam Cooke, Marvin Gaye and James Brown. At a young age, his musical style soon developed into something truly unique and innovative.
