Phantoms of the Blair
The Blair Mansion is an historic building going back to historic times — and some say with historic ghosts haunting the halls. All-in-all a perfect
location for a comic murder mystery!

The history of this fabulous mansion has never been written —
until now. With a million dollar prize for the winning author there's a
lot at stake. And rumor has it that Tom Hanks is interested in making a
movie from the book!

The characters gathered at the Blair, both living and departed,
share a troubled history of tumultuous times with a front-runner for the
prize, the renowned author Guy Arcane. Ultimately the high
stakes lead to a murder — or do they? To make things more mysterious,
the Phantoms of the Blair are on hand to make sure these
writers of historical fiction keep things "real."

Who wins, who loses, who are the Phantoms of
the Blair
?!

Best of all, you get to help solve the mystery!

Come see the DC area's most entertaining,
interactive, comic murder mystery!

“Phantoms of the Blair”

The Blair Mansion is an historic building going back to historic times –and some say with historic guests haunting the halls. But the history of this
fabulous mansion has never been written, until now. With a Million
Dollar Prize offered, there’s a lot at stake for the writers gathering
at the Mansion, waiting to make their pitch to see who is chosen to
write a work of historical fiction about Silver Spring. But much more
is at risk because it’s rumored that Clint Eastwood is interested in
making a movie from the book.

The writers gathered also share a troubled history of tumultuous times with the front-runner for the commission, the renowned author Guy Arcane. The
slings and arrows of their turbulent past will sear the air and heighten
the already tense competition. Ultimately the high stakes and Guy’s
verbal attacks on his competitors will lead to a murder: or does it?
To make things more mysterious, certain Blair Mansion spirits—Phantoms
of the Blair—are on hand to make sure these writers of historical
fiction keep things “real.”

May 14th – June 19th
A Party to Murder (The Robot Mystery)

The staff and families of Robotics Inc. are gathered to celebrate their revolutionary new household robot: Robi! And who should be on hand to celebrate but,
Robi 1!, the prototype for what promises to be the first mass marketed
robot of its kind. Max Dorfenkopf is the proud father (inventor) of
Robi and can not wait to show him off.

But all is not well in the Dorfenkopf household, or behind the scenes at Robotics Inc. Will tempers flare? Will agendas be written in blood? Will someone
become A Party to Murder?!

June 25th – July 31st
Top Dead Chef!

What happens when struggling chefs compete for the ultimate TV show prize: money to open their very own big city restaurant? Egos rise like bread in a brick
oven, fresh ingredients turn to compost in the blink of an eye, and
knife blades are sharpened but not for the cutting board.

Its chef’s gone wild! A tasty mystery served to perfection at the Blair Mansion Restaurant.

August 6th – September 4th
Dance Until You Drop!

Ron Astaire wants to bring back disco dancing and lots of cash to his bank account. But he is already in hock to Big Daddy Disco who wants Ron’s production
company to bring back his favorite music. At the same time, the other
members of Ron’s entourage have their own thoughts about stardom.

When desperate people are dancing to a different beat, the other shoe (and body) is bound to drop!

About the Blair Mansion Inn

Blair Mansion Restaurant is currently in the third century of welcoming people through its doors. It has been a location of fine dining and warm hospitality since it was constructed in 1889.

The building that currently stands as Blair Mansion Restaurant was built on a portion of the Pierce-Shoemaker Estate, originally granted by King Charles II of England to George Pierce in 1685. The Pierce family settled in the
Colonies and built their first home around 1700.

In the 1890’s Abner Shoemaker, a descendent of the Pierce family, gave 20 acres of his land known as the “Girls’ Portion” to his niece, Abigail, and her husband, Charles Rider Newman,
as a wedding gift. The mansion was built for the young couple on the
northern-most corner of this tract which extended just over the District
of Columbia boundary line, thus enabling the newlyweds to have the
privilege of voting in all Maryland and National elections. The stone
was mined (hewed) in the quarries located on what is now Broad Branch
Road and the timber came from Rock Creek Park. The only portion of the
house which did not come directly from the District of Columbia area
were the furnishings which were imported from France at a cost of over
$100,000 (quite a sum back then). These all combined to make this home
an ideal setting for the gracious social festivities of the time.

The exterior of the home was typical of the distinguished plantations of the Old South, surrounded by spacious woodlands. The famed New York socialite and architect, Stanford
White, designed the mansion who also designed Madison Square Garden in
New York sixteen years later

In 1959, the Mansion was extensively renovated and opened as the Blair Mansion Restaurant. The only structural changes made to the old Mansion other
than the addition of an efficient and modern kitchen was enclosing the
outside terrace to become the semi-circular dinning room on the first
floor, known now as the Terrace Room. While none of the decorations of
the original mansion are still around, the current owners took great
care in furnishing the restaurant with time pieces and décor from other
historic mansions in the area to retain the warm feeling of the 1890’s
home.

A TRUE STORY!!!

One evening during the summer of 2009 after finishing the production of "MONK" the play about

Jazz Great Thelonious Monk at The Blair Mansion

Photobucket

I was returning the furniture from the set back upstairs. While up there I saw this woman cleaning the hallway with her broom, rags and dust pan. I kindly spoke to her and she nodded hello and went about her way cleaning up. When I got back downstairs I said Ray I see you have a cleaning lady that cleans after everyone leaves the Mansion. Ray said, no George! We don't have a cleaning lady!!

I said... what do you mean?

I saw and spoke to this lady...

He smile and said we don't have a cleaning lady. That was the Ghost you saw??? She's been cleaning here for over 120 years.

From time to time someone sees her!!

Now every time I see him he jokes about that evening.

A TRUE STORY!!

Can't you feel the chills running through your body. I did!
