Emy Tseng, Vocalist
Emy Tseng is a DC-based jazz singer who performs bossa nova and jazz
standards. "Lithe and graceful, with a sharp rhythmic sense, Emy's voice is
honest and sublime", says Miles Willis, WPFW jazz radio. Emy moved from the
Bay Area in 2009, and has performed in jazz clubs and other venues
throughout DC and San Francisco areas.Singing bossa nova standards in
Portuguese, Emy is noted for her Brazilian sound and feel. Emy began
classical piano at age four and started singing in high school. She studied
classical voice at the Longy School of Music and sang in early music ensembles in Boston and New York.

Billy Holiday, Pearl Bailey, Etta Jones, etc. Background includes 8-year
stint with James Moody 1980-88. Debut CD with Pharoah Sanders as featured vocalist on the LP "REJOICE". Original lyrics to John Coltrane's classic "Moments Notice".
Considered by many as "Next In Line" and Heir Apparent to Eddie Jefferson, Innovator and Creator of Jazz Vocalese. Also performed with Lou Donaldson, Dizzy Gillespie, Benny Golson, Don Sickler, David 'Fathead' Newman, Wes Anderson, Clifford Jordan, George Coleman, Dr. Art Davis, Keter Betts, Calvin Jones, Zoot Simms, Al Cohn, Herman Foster, Harold Mabern, Rueben Brown, Marshall Hawkins, John Hicks, Barry Harris, Kirt Lightsey, Philly Joe Jones, Idris Muhammad, Larry Ridley and the Jazz Legacy Ensemble and many more. Johnson has entertained and performed at clubs, festivals, concert halls worldwide. His list of works includes lyrics to over 30 Charlie Parker compositions and most recently penned lyrics to over 40 Hank Mobley's classic compositions. One of the most exciting vocalist on the jazz scene today!

James King, born in Houston Texas has made the Washington DC area his musical home for the last 30 years. Working with both local and national acts such as Stanley Turrentine, Gary Bartz, Buck Hill, Shirley Horn, John Malachi, Sharon Clark, Max Roach, Sonny Fortune, Candido, Harold Mabern, Gary Thomas, Geri Allen, Ronnie Mathews, Ronnie Burrage, John Hicks, James Williams, Jon Hendricks, Junior Cook, James Moody, Pharoah Sanders, Eddie Henderson, Steve Williams, Barry Harris, Rueben Brown, Dick Morgan, Freddy Cole, George V Johnson Jr, to name a few.

Drummer and Composer Nasar Abadey is the founder, leader and driving force of SUPERNOVA®. His debut CD, Mirage was released in 2000 on the Amosaya Record Label, and a follow-up CD is planned to be released later this year (2006). He has performed with Amiri Baraka, Dizzy Gillespie, Charlie Rouse, Gary Bartz, David Sanchez, Cyrus Chestnut, Sonny Fortune, Ella Fitzgerald, Eartha Kitt, Kenny Kirkland, Gary Thomas, Stanley Turrentine, Sun Ra, Frank Morgan, Bobby Hutcherson, Pharaoh Sanders, Malachi Thompson and many others. Additionally, he has appeared in various festivals including, San Remo (Italy), Montreal (Canada), Cap City (DC), Virgin Island (Caribbean), JVC (NYC), Morocco (Africa), Chicago Jazz Festival, Iowa City Jazz Festival, D.C. Julie Mack, Vocalist
Julie Mack performs regularly in the Washington, DC area singing jazz and
Brazilian music. A proud New Jersey native, Julie spent years in Boston,
New York and Asia before moving to this area in 1998. She is delighted to
make her musical home in the DC jazz community. Julie counts among her
musical influences legends such as Blossom Dearie, Ella Fitzgerald, Anita
O'Day and Sarah Vaughan, contemporaries such as Holly Cole, Stacey Kent and
Tierney Sutton, and Brazilian vocalists including Paula Morelenbaum and Gal
Costa.
