Multidimensional scene as the headliner of the 23rd edition of the International Jazz Festival of St. Louis, offered yesterday in the final day of the event, in the presence of the sponsor Mamadou Ndiaye Diagna and SEM ZUMWALT, Ambassador US Senegal. The quintet opened its rich and diverse musical journey with the voices and instruments of children troop military academy of St. Louis Charles Ntchororé. Then he added more spice to the sauce, inviting the percussion group saint-Louisian Ngeweul Gui, led by the talented Khadim Niang. Several distant sounds, but reconciled and combined harmoniously sewn through a unique musical style. The House of Slaves (Maison des Esclaves)
Slave House "Door of No Return" Goree Island
Door of No Return is a museum and memorial to the Atlantic slave trade on Gorée Island, 3 km off the coast of the city of Dakar, Senegal. Its museum was opened in 1962 and curated until his death in 2009 by Boubacar Joseph Ndiaye, is said to memorialise the final exit point of the slaves from Africa. Historians differ on how many, if any, African slaves were actually held in this building, as well as the relative importance of Gorée Island as a point on the Atlantic Slave Trade,[1] but visitors from Africa, Europe, and the Americas continue to make it an important place to remember the human toll of African slavery.
WALLACE RONEY earned the admiration and respect of his colleagues and his elders since age 16. He has been an integral part of the band with Tony Williams, Ornette Coleman, Art Blakey, Elvin Jones, Philly Joe Jones, Walter Davis Jr., Herbie Hancock, Jay McShann, David Murray, McCoy Tyner, Sonny Rollins, Curtis Fuller, Carole King, Joni Mitchell & Dizzy Gillespie to name a few.
He was one of the few musicians in his generation who learned and perfected his craft directly from alliances with Jazz Masters. But his most important and meaningful relationship was with Miles Davis.

Now in it’s 6th year, The Hudson Valley Jazz Festival is scheduled for Aug. 27-30.
This year’s headliner is Miles Davis protege Wallace Roney. Mr. Roney will perform Sunday, August 30, at The Sugar Loaf Performing Arts Center. Presented by Advisors Capital Management.
New town to this year’s festival is New Paltz NY. Gomen Kudasain Restaurant will feature Harvey Kaiser.

In the late 1960s, when trumpeter Miles Davis was leading his famous second quintet, saxophonist Wayne Shorter wrote a series of new works featuring Davis with orchestra. When the quintet broke up, Shorter put the scores away
Now, trumpeter Wallace Roney — a protégé of Miles Davis — has received the scores and prepared them for a performance at the 2014 Detroit Jazz Festival. Jazz Night In America presents the very first recording of "Universe" and other rare Wayne Shorter works performed by the Wallace Roney Orchestra, featuring Victor Gould (piano), Buster Williams (bass), Lenny White (drums) and members of the Detroit Symphony Orchestra.
