A message to all members of ColoredPeople.net

Greetings CPN Family,

Most of you know that our community is being hosted by Ning and that we are now charged a monthly fee to maintain our site
running with all the features we have grown accustomed to.

Sadly, we are no longer able to continue meeting this financial commitment and we are faced with the decision to shut down ColoredPeople.net,
our newsletter and our CPN T-shirt
& Beanie store
.

I want to thank all CPN family members who have supported our efforts in encouraging and promoting one another, our
projects and our network. I rejoice in what we accomplished as a family
in such a short time, which is part of the vision that will still live
on.

I encourage you to continue supporting and promoting our 2011 Calendar for Haiti, which was created for a great cause and is a
wonderful collectors items filled with graphic art, poetry and
photography from members of our community.

Also, my company which sponsors CPN carries beautiful one of a kind art from various CPN members and I thank you for
supporting DaughterNature.com .

Our Sponsor DaughterNature.com and ColoredPeople.net Members Team Up for Worthy Causes!

Exclusively at DaughterNature.com

We'll give us a little time before the site is shut down, we will maintain the basic hosting plan til December 17, which
means you will still have access to network, however we will no longer
have access to video uploads, music players, chat, events, groups and
notes.

Trusting that in the future we can continue doing great things and be sure to visit our BlogTalkRadio.com/ColoredPeople
archives, for they will remain active!

Wishing you all the best and thank you for bringing color to our world!

A proud member of the Washington DC Jazz Network

First of all I must humbly applaud the effots of the entire staff ,especially Mr Johnson for preserving our great American classical music. I am in the process of reestablishing my credential as a writer and (musician)percussionist in the various elements of jazz and related art forms.I feel one of the most pressing issues we must address is nurturing, promoting, preserving this cultural art form to our young people, particularly in inner city and those classified as disenfranchised and /or socially disadvantaged. To remedy this void, I am in the process of a developing a proposal to integrate the history of the DC arts & entertainment tradition within the curriculum of the public school system. In addition, I would desire to chronicle this history as a standardized publication(books)as well as posting it as web based content. I am particularly concerned with those contributions made by African Americans during the popular "Black Broadway" of the 20s-30s to the music of native sons Duke Ellington,Marvin Gaye,Van McCoy, CalvinJones(UDC), Howard University(I am an alumnus, class of 77) the Howard Theatre as well as our current GO-GO sound into the 21st century. These contributions are too important to the music fabric of DC and the nation to ignore. I welcome your comments and suggestions.Thank you so much and keep up the wonderful labor of love.
